I met Jo in 1996 and I had the pleasure of staying at her home many times. We would visit the many cultural sites of the Berkshires, making sure to visit the "Baldwin Vanilla Syrup Co.". Jo loved to play Scrabble and she was pretty much unbeatable, except for one time and she wasn't that thrilled about it either. It definitley was luck for me because I am no competition to her when it comes to vocabulary. Jo always sent me birthday cards and beautifully wrapped gifts. She really put herself in to everything she did. A true Aries with an evergy and drive that was unstoppable. I was so happy to have her at my home in NYC a few years ago and go to the Met with her. Jo really never complained about her health, she just put on a pretty hat and moved on. I have an article that was written a few years ago with her photo showing her with no hair and a big smile. It is no surprise to me that she volunteered at the literacy center after retiring from the bookstore. Jo wouldn't have wanted to sit at home, not Jo. I wish I knew of her passing earlier. I just heard about it a few minutes ago and would have liked to have been able to send my condolences earlier to her family and friends. Please extend them to all who loved and had the pleasure of knowing Jo.
Sinceerely,
Sandra

Keep posting, Karen. Can't wait to hear all about it. Glad you met my friend Stephanie over there in Delhi. I'm trying to imagine what the din must be like there - more vibrant than our frozen winterland I'm sure. Until next post ...

Hi Matt, it's been a while since I've been to the Bookstore, maybe a year or two (or three), but I have a special place in my heart for the Bookstore. My first time there was in the Summer of 1976. Also, some authors I love have read their works there. Paul Park and David Budbill are two that have stuck very deep cords im my soul.
That you so much for what you do. Lance Earnest (in Connecticut)

"Gerdi," as he was known at Windsor Mt., was a wonderful teacher, who made the turbulance of 20th Cent Europe come alive for his students. Of course, he was the type of man from whom you could learn just from watching him. BTW, you mention Eleanor Roosevelt...never heard she was connected with Windsor (though I know Alger Hiss was). Can you source that reference? Thanks

What a lovely invitation! I'll come with my husband. I'll read a poem in Italian, one in French and one in English. When I met him, he was young.
See you!

Two Big Developments in the ongoing story of EnlightenNext:

Andrew Cohen and EnlightenNext have put the Foxhollow property up for sale. The asking price is $6,950,000 which represents a handsome profit made with all of our donations, and our free labor, over many years. (It was bought for $2.8 million in 1996.)

The property listing is here:
http://www.flexmls.com/cgi-bin/mainmenu.cgi?cmd=url+other/run_public_link.html&public_link_tech_id=rdtzhwxys0r&s=6&id=1&cid=1
The broker who is listing the property has said that EnlightenNext is interested in relocating to the Pioneer Valley, which means the Northampton, Amherst area of Massachusetts. They apparently are looking for a new, smaller campus with housing and offices.

Another important development is that several former contributors to EnlightenNext magazine have made statements expressing their thoughts and concerns about the revelations of abuses contained in American Guru. These statements can be found on the American Guru site - www.americanguru.net

Kind Regards,
William Yenner
